Being organized is having arranged systems and proven methods. When you have order, you are well on your way to new levels. The question is, “How do you create order?”
You probably have a proven system that you consider to be organizational. To others, it may appear to be nothing short of a mess. Everything should have a place, and there is a place for everything. With organization there is empowerment, and for every minute spent organizing, you gain an hour to do what you want to do.
Having things in their place improves your time management. Efficiency is increased and tasks are accomplished more quickly. With less clutter, you are able to stay focused with minimal distractions. Decisions are easier to make as information is close at hand. In addition to all of this, confidence is boosted as you gain control over your environment and responsibilities.
As for your health, you are able to sleep better since you have more time to rest and relax. You’ll be happier because you have time to do the things you enjoy. People who are organized have a tendency to take better care of their personal health, starting their days with meditation, exercise, and other self-care rituals. Relationships are enhanced since you schedule appointments, show up on time, and follow through with what you have said.
Organization can transform your life. I used to believe there were never enough hours in a day. I was infamous for overbooking myself and trying to live up to all the commitments that I made. Sometimes, I would even forget I made commitments; therefore, I was always in a rush, trying to get from one appointment to another. My desk was scattered with files and papers that I plundered through daily, always trying to search in “the last place I saw it.” Finally, I had enough!
Lack of organization was causing me to do twice as much work. At last, I found a place for everything, put things away immediately, and trained myself to work with systems. Then I was able to create the environment that I desired. List-making was essential so I could remember my commitment to tasks and mark them off once they were completed. Not only did I organize things, but I organized people. I became a person of order and expected others to assist me in an orderly way. This action allowed me to be more efficient and productive at work and home.
Order produces peace in your heart, your mind, and your life. With that peace comes energy to do everything you need to do. Organization is a must if you want to accomplish anything in life. Here’s to making the hours in the day work for you. Stand firm. Let’s keep growing and going. It’s a good time to be you!
