Life has a funny way of throwing us some unexpected curves. You may be experiencing some of those curves even now. Amid those, you may need some peace. Mother Teresa once said, “Peace begins with a smile.”
I have learned over the years that a smile can help you get through many of those unforeseen moments. Try it. Stop now and just smile at whoever may be around you. Now we all have one. You may not have used yours in a while. So, now’s your opportunity. If you’re by yourself, then smile at yourself in a mirror. Take about 30 seconds to do nothing but smile. Now… doesn’t that make you feel a little warmer inside?
The following are some simple benefits of smiling:
- Smiling is contagious.
- Smiling is like medicine.
- Smiling is our first facial expression.
- Forcing yourself to smile when you’re sad will elevate your mood.
- Smiling makes you look prettier.
- Smiling can reduce blood pressure.
- Smiling is a form of exercise.
- Employers tend to promote people who smile often.
A smile not only changes the disposition of your face, but it also changes the disposition of your heart. Check yourself several times throughout the day and make sure you are wearing that smile. In the funny ways of life, a smile can be very real. It reveals to everyone around that it’s a good time to be you!
