Expectations

“I wonder.  I hope.  I desire.  I want.  I expect.”  These are all expressions of things we anticipate or presume.  Depending on our personality or past experiences, expectations can keep us engaged in our interests or they can shut us down in our fear of not measuring up to them.

I have often heard the quote, “The atmosphere of expectancy is the breeding ground for miracles.”  To expect something is to have a belief about the future.  It’s an anticipation with confidence of fulfillment.  We are encouraged that when we pray we are to believe that we will receive what we ask for.  In times of great expectation, we cannot lean on the saying, “Believe for the best and plan for the worst.”  In this case scenario, there can be no plan “B”.  Remember actions speak louder than words.  If you act as if it is not going to happen, guess what.  It will not happen.  Why? Your focus has shifted from the possibilities of your expectation to the fear of it not happening.

Why do we create a plan “B”?  For me, I use it as a safety net.  You know in case I can’t truly get what I want. You may be able to relate to that reasoning.  However, how sad it is to put our faith in something or someone that we don’t truly believe in to begin with!

I don’t know about you, but I have huge dreams and expectations, ideas that are totally out of my capabilities.  Without question, I must put my faith in someone greater than myself.  In those instances, I choose to trust the One who placed them inside of me. I encourage you to do the same.  Do not be afraid to go there.  Your heavenly Father placed those ideas inside of you.  He wants you to live them more than you do.  And He invites you to participate with Him in making them a reality.  The strength that you bring is that of expectancy.

As a result of my personal expectations here are a few miracles that I have experienced: three amazing children (two boys and one girl in that order); restored family relationships; healing in my soul; a thriving ministry; an abundantly blessed business; a beach dream house; world travels; and the list goes on.  I am still in expectation of the greater.  The key is to believe when you pray.  There is no plan “B”.  It is all or nothing.  Don’t be afraid of being disappointed.  When you trust the One who can make it happen, there are only rewards for your faith.  Keep growing and keep going.  It’s a good time to be you!

Peace and Joy,

Angela
