Don’t Worry

Worry is a two-syllable word that refers to thoughts, images, emotions, and actions of a negative nature in a repetitive, uncontrollable manner. This destructive pattern results from a proactive, cognitive risk analysis to solve potential threats or potential consequences. Trying to make sense of things out of your control or contemplating all the worst-case scenarios will drive you mad.

By worrying, you cannot add a single day to your life. However, you can certainly take away from your life. Here are some interesting facts about worry and anxiety:

  1. It can cause health issues such as chest pains, digestive issues, nausea, and headaches.
  2. It can cause an increase in addiction risks.
  3. It can be hereditary – passed down to you and from you.
  4. It is the most common mental health issue in the United States.
  5. Women are more likely to have anxiety than men.
  6. It can trigger or be accompanied by other disorders.

As you can see, nothing about worry appears to be healthy or productive. Rather, worry and anxiety rob us from a peaceful and joyful life that we desire to have. Not all things in this life will be good. However, there is good in all things, lessons to be learned, and opportunities for growth.

Some things in life are not meant to be controlled by you. However, you can always control your response to them. The choice and the decision are yours to make. Do you wish to default to a spiraling path of negative outcomes that haven’t happened yet, or do you dare to imagine the best possible scenario and step out with great expectations? The latter seems scarier, I must admit. However, I have been a person who has chosen the less traveled road. I have learned that I get what I focus on.  If I chose to see only problems, then that is what I got with great increase. If I chose to search for solutions, I have been pleasantly surprised by the best return possible. I make new connections. I see things through a different view. And, I am stronger having lived through the challenging experience.

So, don’t allow worry to take away precious days from your life. Step out into what appears to be the unknown and embrace an experience of a lifetime. You will be better because you did. Great things are happening. Shine bright. It’s a good time to be you!

Peace and Joy,

Angela
