Be Empowered

Be empowered and empower.  Jesus told his disciples after his resurrection that they would soon receive power.  With this power they would go and do greater things throughout the world.  They soon learned to use this power to also empower others.  The more the power spread, the greater the works that were accomplished.

Only empowered people can reach their full potential.  If you want to become a successful leader, you have to become an “empowerer”.  Theodore Roosevelt once said, “The best executive is one who has the sense enough to pick good men to do what needs to be done, and the self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.”  Only secure leaders give power to others.  By giving power to others, they are able to develop and become capable of doing the jobs that need to be done.

A good example is Barnabas and Paul (Acts 9:27-30).  Barnabas believed in Paul before anyone else did.  He endorsed Paul’s leadership to other leaders.  Then, he empowered Paul to reach his potential.

Empowering people takes a personal investment.  It requires energy and time.  However, in the long run, you will have the potential to help someone move to a higher level.  You do not have to do all the work alone.   The work that needs to be done will be accomplished in greater measures.  Behind every successful person is a tribe of other successful people who have their back.  Remember, it’s a good time to be you!
